An Iranian and South Korean calligraphy exhibition – on the theme of “Family” – was jointly held by the Cultural Coordination Center of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue Forum (CCCACD) and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea at the residence of the Korean Ambassador in Tehran; as a symbol of strengthening Asian cultural cooperation. The exhibition coincided with the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
This cultural and artistic event was held in the presence of a group of resident ambassadors, prominent artists, diplomats, and international cultural personalities, and it clearly demonstrated the role of CCCACD in developing cultural interactions, artistic diplomacy, and convergence among Asian nations.
At the opening ceremony of this exhibition, H. E. Kim Junpyo, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Iran, expressed his gratitude to the Cultural Coordination Center of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (CCCACD) and its Chairman, Dr. Mohammad Jafari Malak, for initiating this cultural event, and stated:
“On this important day, it is a great honor to host an exhibition in collaboration with CCCACD that strengthens the cultural and artistic ties between Iran and South Korea and provides a lasting manifestation of the friendship between Asian nations.” Referring to the role of this center, he added: “Cooperation with CCCACD has paved the way for the expansion of mutual understanding and cultural exchanges through the path of the eternal beauty of calligraphy.”
Dr. Jafari Malak, the Chairman of the CCCACD, was the next speaker, who, by referring to the mission of this center in strengthening Asian cultural diplomacy, stated:
“This exhibition is a successful example of CCCACD’s role in creating common cultural platforms among Asian countries. The Choice of the theme “Family” for this event is precise and valuable, and in line with shared cultural values in Asia.” He further added: “Despite the delay in holding the exhibition due to recent circumstances, we are pleased that this cultural collaboration came to fruition today, and we hope to see the continuation of such programs within the framework of CCCACD.”
Mr. Yong Hyun-dag, president of the Korean Calligraphers Association, also made a brief speech, saying, “This cultural cooperation is very valuable to me, and I hope that it will continue and expand further in the coming years through CCCACD. As a calligrapher, I communicate more through writing than through speaking.”
In another part of the ceremony, Dr. Ms. Tandis Taghavi, a calligraphy artist and coordinator of the exhibition, stated: “It is very valuable for us that today’s exhibition is held under the title of “Family”. The issue of family is certainly central in Asian countries. It is also gratifying that this exhibition coincides with the 63rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Iran and Korea.”
Ms. Taghavi, who is the Culture and Arts Ambassador of the CCCACD, also explained the role of artists in political relations and said: “I believe that artists are the ones who strengthen political relations. By holding these cultural programs, friendly relations can be built not only between Iran and Korea, but also all countries in the world.”
