The cultural days of the Republic of Tajikistan in Iran, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Embassy of Tajikistan in Iran and the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization of were inaugurated on Monday, October 3, 2022 in the cultural and tourism area of Tehran Art Garden, and to be continued in the cities of Shiraz and Tabriz.

This cultural event included performances by artistic groups including drama groups, music groups, poetry readings by Tajik poets, and an exhibition of paintings, photos, handicrafts, and national costumes of Tajikistan.

In the opening ceremony of this great cultural and artistic event, which was attended by Dr. Esmaili, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Ms. Dolatzadeh, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Nizamuddin Zahedi, Ambassador of Tajikistan to Iran, a number of ambassadors and cultural representatives of Asian countries, a group of Tajik and Iranian artists as well as those interested in Asian culture and art, by referring to the new approach of the Iranian government in the field of foreign policy, Dr. Esmaili said: in the last one year, more than eight ministers of culture from different countries in the region have formally visited Tehran we have had several meetings and negotiations about cultural cooperation and a number of cultural and artistic MOUs have been signed.

Referring to Iran’s membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, he added: As per the membership protocols in this Organization, we signed two cultural and media protocols that provide a good perspective for regional cooperation in the field of culture.

Commemorating the beginning of Tajikistan’s cultural week in different Iranian cities of Tehran, Tabriz and Shiraz, he noted: Historical cultural closeness and more importantly common interests have brought the two nations of Iran and Tajikistan closer to each other. Esmaili also pointed to the long history of cultural interactions between Iran and Tajikistan and said: In addition to the usual cultural exchanges both Iran and Tajikistan are also members of the ECO Cultural Institute.

The next speaker of this ceremony was Ms. Davlatzoda Zulfiya Davlat, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan who by referring to the cultural relations between Tajikistan and Iran, said: “In the last one year, we are witnessing a new chapter in the relations between the two countries. Common linguistic and historical values connect the nations of Tajikistan and Iran and provide the basis for strengthening cultural relations between the two countries. The Minister of Culture of Tajikistan, referred to cultural week of her country in Iran as a success and said: Such cultural events play a unique role in strengthening bilateral relations.

She also emphasized in the face of existing global challenges historical nations are the flag bearers of friendship between different civilizations. The Minister of Culture of Tajikistan also mentioned the presence of Tajik artists at the Fajr Film Festival and the visit of Tajik culture people to the Tehran Fair International Book as examples of cultural exchanges between Tajikistan and Iran.

This inaugural ceremony continued with the performance of traditional music of Tajikistan and Persian poetry readings by Tajik poets.
